Construction of Waterleaf (formerly RiverPlace Parcel 3 Phase 2), BRIDGE Housing’s new affordable housing development, is underway—an important step towards meeting affordable housing goals in Portland’s North Macadam Urban Renewal Area. The first phase, named The Vera, was completed in early 2020. The new 189,000 SF, post-tensioned concrete and wood-framed structure will hold 178 high-quality units reserved for seniors and families at a variety of income levels. Units will have a mix of layouts, from studios to three bedrooms, and include dishwashers, garbage disposals, and vinyl plank flooring. There will also be 3,700 SF of ground floor commercial space and daylight basement parking, to be shared with the adjacent Phase 1 building, with 67 stalls for vehicles and 267 bike parking spaces. Residents will enjoy easy access to the Portland streetcar (a stop located out front of the building), the MAX light rail system, various retail and health services within walking distance.
