Built in 1967, Ya Po Ah Terrace is a modernist concrete and glass structure on a large site at the base of Skinners Butte which accommodates community gardens, a pet area, outdoor bbq and patio space. It was designed by the same architect as Westmoreland’s Union Manor and built by the same contractor. The 260-unit affordable apartment complex houses a rich and vibrant community of seniors who value their independence and quality of life. Amenities include a fully functional dining hall with stage, multipurpose room with exercise equipment, conference room, hobby/game room, convenience store, beauty salon, and a library.

The project will include replacement of the building exterior window wall on sixteen floors, a new storefront system on the two lowest levels, voluntary seismic upgrades, replacement of existing domestic water supply lines to units, replacement of the HVAC systems and ventilation, the addition of insulation and application of a new roofing system, site renovation to accommodate accessible parking and reconfiguration of existing units to achieve 12 accessible units. The building will be occupied during construction, with apartments temporarily vacated in phases throughout construction.
