The old Fire station 39 site was donated to the Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) for the construction of The Tony Lee Apartments (Lake City Family Housing). The six-story, mixed-use building provides 70 units of workforce housing to individuals making 30% to 60% of the area’s median income. Also housed in the building, four preschool classrooms are located on the ground level to be operated by the Refugee Women’s Alliance (ReWA). The executive director of ReWA, Mahnaz Eshetu, announced that “we will serve 80 students here and teach bi- and tri-lingually, lowering cultural barriers and helping families prosper.”

Special features include a rooftop deck, gardens, and a solar array.

The Tony Lee is located one block away from Lake City Way, giving residents convenient access to grocery stores, restaurants, a Seattle Public Library, the Lake City Neighborhood Service Center, a dental clinic, and Albert Davis Park.
