12th Avenue Arts wins Vision 2040 Award
The Puget Sound Regional Council has honored 12th Avenue Arts, as well as five other projects and programs from around the region, with the VISION 2040 Awards.
The VISION 2040 Awards showcase the amazing work that is being done to implement VISION 2040, the region’s long-range growth, economic development and transportation strategy, the region’s vision for the future.

On May 8th, 2014, Bob Walsh, Managing Partner of Walsh Construction Co. and Thidwick Partners was named as the 2014 recipient of the Bridge Meadows Bridge Builder Award endowed by Boly:Welch.
Success With Easton Ridge Resident Job Training Program
Julie (left) and Eduardo (right) worked on the Easton Ridge Redevelopment Project in Happy Valley. Walsh Construction Co., in partnership with the Clackamas County Housing Authority and Community Solutions for Clackamas County, hired 13 low-income residents for this job training program. Participants were referred to the program and are receiving valuable on-the-job training in the construction industry that will lead to regular long-term employment. Five of the participants have already been hired in the industry full-time.
WALSH Take Your Child to Work Day
The sons and daughters of Walsh Construction Co. employees learned about the construction industry Thursday with their participation in the company’s Take Your Child to Work Day. At the firm’s office in Southwest Portland, kids learned about estimating, job safety, and heavy equipment before building their own birdhouses.
OWCB Success on Portland Community College Southeast Center Campus
At the Southeast Center, being successfully completed by OWCB (including a successful parternship between Walsh Construction Co., O’Neill Electric and Inline Construction) the new Student Commons building opened this week. The campus also is gaining a new library and a major remodel of the historic 1911 German-American Society building. The $36 million project is doubling the size of the Southeast Center and is expected to serve as a catalyst for economic development in Southeast Portland.
Grand Opening of The Magnolia Affordable Apartments
On September 17th, the doors opened and The Magnolia Apartments welcomed new residents. This all-brick, LEED Certified apartment building brings 50 new, much anticipated, affordable apartment homes to the Eliot Neighborhood.
