Eclipse Watching at WALSH !

The solar eclipse on Monday, Aug. 21 was expected to attract hordes of sky-watchers to such Oregon hot spots as Madras, where there’s traditionally a good chance of clear skies in August, but we had a great time in Portland and excellent visibility!

Lake City Family Housing is Underway!

Lake City Family Housing is Underway! We celebrated in style on Aug 15 with the official groundbreaking, but our team has been hard at work since July 6 building the foundation for this exciting project. LIHI’s Lake City Family Housing is set to become a valued community resource that combines housing and education. In addition to providing 70 affordable apartments, the six-story building will be home to a 6,600 SF preschool managed by Refugee Women’s Alliance, offering early education for up to 80 children, and featuring a colorful and playful façade designed by Runberg. The project also supports the community with an accessible, walkable location close to parks and shopping centers, a library, and community resources like Literacy Source, which offers adult education classes. …Read More

Framework Receives Building Permit, First CLT High Rise in the US!

“It’s a first for the United States: the State of Oregon and City of Portland have granted a building permit for the first Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) high rise over 85 feet. The building is called Framework, an under development 12-story (148 feet tall), 90,000-square-foot mixed-use building in Portland, Oregon designed by LEVER Architecture (for project and Home Forward) that will make use of a wood core structure”

28 year veteran of WALSH, Ryan Wilde is our new VP/General Manager in Oregon and Mike Steffen made Director of Innovation

Walsh Construction Co. has named Ryan Wilde as Vice President and General Manager of the company’s Oregon operation.  Ryan has 28 years of experience in building and construction management, all gained while working at WALSH. In recent years, Ryan has led some of the company’s largest and most complex projects in the higher education and multifamily housing sectors.

After serving as WALSH Oregon General Manager for 9 years, Mike Steffen will undertake a new role in the company as Director of Innovation.  Mike will focus on expanding the company’s push into emerging innovative processes and technologies, while providing strategic project leadership.
