Honored to be working with Portland YouthBuilders and Scott | Edwards Architecture on the renovations to PYB’s 10,000 SF school building in the Lents neighborhood! The renovation will be phased over the next four months to allow PYB’s education and vocational training programs to continue without interruption. Thanks to the WALSH team of Bob Forster, Ryan Wilde, Kyle Heckaman and John (BJ) Lowe for their work on this community building project!

Renovation includes interior and exterior improvements, which will foster a more open and welcoming space for students, staff, volunteers, and visitors. The new layout will add much needed flexible classroom and counseling space, enhance capacity to host schoolwide gatherings and outreach events, improve the school façade for greater energy efficiency, improve classroom acoustics, and create a small dedicated student kitchen/lounge. According to PYB Board President Steve Rudman, the project “is the culmination of an intensive two-year planning process that meets our immediate program needs as well as our plans for future growth in the Lents community”.

Portland YouthBuilders supports 200 low income young people each year between 17 and 24 who have dropped out of high school but are committed to changing their lives. PYB offers a multi-year program of education, vocational training, leadership development, community service, and long term support. Please consider donating in support of their organization and to assist with renovation costs! http://pybpdx.org/support-us
