Transformation of the historic Ainsworth & Dunn building in Seattle continues! Dropping by the project the week before the holidays, Wendy Kato took this photo just as the rain let up over downtown. We’ve also included some progress shots from a few months ago – enjoy the clear summer skies! The project for Meriwether Partners, designed by Weinstein AU Architects and Urban Designers, combines preservation of an industrial building and new construction along the waterfront.
Our team is renovating a historic warehouse, as well as constructing a new 7-story, 62-unit residential building next door. A glass panel is positioned between the historic building and the new structure while a one-story glazed gasket will connect them. Designated a historic landmark, the Ainsworth & Dunn Warehouse, also known as the Old Spaghetti Factory Restaurant, was built in 1902 for a prominent salmon-packing company to work in tandem with Pier 14 operations. The building was converted for use as a restaurant in the 1970s. The project includes modernizing the building for commercial and office use while adding an addition at roof level. New construction includes one below-grade parking level and ground floor commercial space. We are currently focused on finishes – laying flooring, setting countertops, installing cabinets, etc.
