More news from our Capitol Campus Child Care Center project for Washington State Department of Enterprise Services! Gov. Jay Inslee and First Lady Trudi Inslee recently toured the site as the project nears completion! Childcare is essential for Washington’s recovery and this center has been a priority of Trudi Inslee’s for the last seven years.
The childcare center is on track to open towards the end of the summer. It will support Capitol Campus employees, with six classrooms, a playground, and an outdoor learning area for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The structure has an eco-friendly design meeting LEED Silver standards, designed by Mahlum, and features a roof composed of cross-laminated timber (CLT) and glue-laminated timber (GLT).
