Support For Community During COVID-19

In this time of rapid change and proactive decisions, many events and organizations have canceled their fund-raisers or social gatherings out of respect for public health. Many of these organizations are non-profits or small businesses that depend on financial support from our greater community.

WALSH is honored to continue to support these organizations through these uncertain times and will continue to provide sponsorships and donations even though the event has been canceled. We strongly encourage our project partners, stakeholders and business community at large to do the same.

Together we will support each other and be an even stronger community as we weather this storm. Thank you.

Congratulations to LIHI on Much Needed Affordable Housing

There is much to celebrate as the An Lac Apartments has received its Certificate of Occupancy! This means that LIHI is able to provide much needed affordable homes to the residents of the Little Saigon neighborhood located in Seattle, WA. This development stands at 7 stories tall, encompassing 69 homes on 79,140 square feet of land, including an underground parking garage and office space on the first two floors. A Special congrats goes out to LIHI and Runberg Architecture for playing such a big role in developing, designing and implementing this project. We especially want to welcome LIHI to their new home as this building will house the highly anticipated new office for LIHI’s central operations!

We are so excited to share the promotion of Abigail Anderson to her new role of Assistant Superintendent!

We are so excited to share the promotion of Abigail Anderson to her new role of Assistant Superintendent!

Abby was a student at Washington State University, graduating with a Civil Engineering degree in the winter of 2016. Go Cougs! She joined WALSH during the summers of 2014-2016 as an intern. During those summers she worked on a residence hall at Pacific University, the Hayashi Row Homes, and OSU Cascades Residence and Dining Halls. Upon graduating, her first project as a PE was for Orchards at Orenco. Currently Abby is working at Ya Po Ah Terrace, an occupied rehab in Eugene.

Abby is “very grateful” for this company bringing her in and providing opportunities. And we are grateful that she chose WALSH!

Please join us in congratulating Abby on continued success!

A perfect way to conclude our last installment for Women In Construction week, as we want to acknowledge our appreciation for all of the women working at both WALSH and RDF Builders. These women embody all the values WALSH represents and stand by, so we honor all that they do to support the success of their projects and the company.

We look forward to many years, and many more experiences with these wonderful groups!

Excellent Team Effort at Kaiser MLK Day of Service

Inspiring work by these dedicated people in honor of Martin Luther King Jr Day of Service with Kaiser Permanente in support of the good works in the community by Transition Projects ! Almost 200 volunteers arrived onsite ready to roll up their sleeves to help make the Transition Projects Argyle Gardens a home. This innovative housing project will provide more than 70 formerly homeless people with a safe, clean place to live. Thank you to Kaiser Permanente for their devotion to community and for organizing the day, to all of the wonderful volunteers and to our onsite Superintendents Nick Cardoza and Mario Hernandez for their exceptionally thoughtful and well organized logistics plan to keep all volunteers and visitors safe and working. Thank you to so many others who are helping make this inspiring event a success for all.

Commissioner Nick Fish

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Commissioner Nick Fish, a thoughtful and determined advocate for the community and in particular those in need of affordable housing and those experiencing homelessness. We are grateful to have worked with him on many community building projects throughout Portland and his tremendous efforts will leave a positive and lasting impact on all the lives he helped to support through his longstanding commitment as a public servant. We send our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones.
