Ground-Breaking of Affordable Housing Campus for Northwest Housing Alternatives

A great day to celebrate the ground-breaking of the new affordable housing campus for Northwest Housing Alternatives which will include a new emergency shelter for families, 28 units of permanent affordable housing, and a direct service center!

General Contractor is O’Neill/WALSH Community Builders, LLC (OWCB) — a formal partnership between O’Neill Construction Group, a registered MWESB firm, and Walsh Construction Co. We are excited to see the design come to life with Michael Willis Architects.

Link to NHA’s capital campaign which will enable them to broaden crucial housing services for low income families, veterans, seniors and people with special needs. https://nwhousing.org/building-futures-capital-campaign/

Check out the colorful exterior of Low Income Housing Institute’s Lake City Family Housing!

Check out the colorful exterior of Low Income Housing Institute‘s Lake City Family Housing! Our team has been very busy over the last 11 months, moving toward completion this Fall. They’re finishing up exterior site work and landscaping, installing appliances, cabinets and flooring – and getting ready for interior punch. The 6-story building designed by Runberg Architecture will soon be supporting local families with 70 affordable apartments and a preschool managed by Refugee Women’s Alliance (ReWA).

Great work by our WALSH and RDF crews led by Greg Linnell, Nathan Connaway, Tanner Romo, Bj Tyler and Wendy Kato; Labor Foreman Vinnie Ada; and trade superintendents Jeremy Winter, Ryan Mertes, Justin Nieto, Tom Koviak, Jeromy Wood and Shannon Morey. Thanks to Tanner for the beautiful progress photo!

Foundation work is looking good at the $50m Sky Lakes Collaborative Health Center!

Foundation work is looking good at the $50m Sky Lakes Collaborative Health Center, expected to be completed in late 2019. The center’s construction is the product of a partnership between OHSU, Oregon’s only academic health center, and Sky Lakes Medical Center, a non-profit, community-owned hospital that serves Klamath and Lake counties.

Excellent work by our RDF crews on the Welcome Wall at Oregon Museum of Science and Industry and the new children’s exhibit that is getting ready to open soon!

Excellent work by our RDF crews as they finish installing the Welcome Wall at Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) and the new children’s exhibit that is getting ready to open soon! When OMSI goes live with the full LED display behind the wood facade, the wall will provide both written content describing the days events and exhibits to the visitor and fun graphics moving across the surface. The team, including Dangermond Keane Architecture, OMSI, and WALSH looked at several substrates for the wood façade; finally landing on a series of wood pictures, digitally printed onto acrylic. Hundreds of LED lights are mounted behind the wood facade allowing OMSI to program each one to create a vast array of images and content for the visitor. Exciting work! Thanks to the WALSH team of Ryan Wilde, Bennett Barnwell, Eddie Sjogren and Caitlin B. Kelley!

Beautiful Work at the Cornelius Place project!

Beautiful work out at the Cornelius Place project! This multi-use development will house the expanded Cornelius Public Library including much-needed community space, a YMCA center, and 45 affordable apartments for adults age 55 and older. Cornelius Place is a joint project for the City of Cornelius, Oregon-Local Government, Bienestar and BRIDGE Housing. The new library will also provide a variety of services to support children, families, and seniors, including pre-reading and early education programs, student success programs, and adult education. Huge thanks to Scott | Edwards Architecture, our RDF team and the WALSH team of Dean Lindstrom, Bennett Barnwell, Hunter Rains, Nolan Knox and Jill Mathews for their dedication on this community-building project!

ARTICLE: Grand Avenue affordable housing project is largest of its kind in a half-century!

An excellent article and interview in the Daily Journal of Commerce, including our own Project Manager Meghan Gross Herteg, by Josh Kulla Photography of our Grand Avenue project being built for Home Forward with LEVER Architecture and LRS Architects. OWCB is the general contractor on the project! OWCB was formally founded in 2011 as the natural progression of a relationship between O’Neill Construction Group., a veteran-owned MBE/DBE company, and Walsh Construction Co., but our relationship has spanned more than 13 years and delivered more than 25 projects worth over $150 million.
