Celebrating Thea Zander for Women in Construction Week! 29+ year veteran of WALSH!

We are honored to highlight some of the amazing contributions by our Women in Construction. Thea Zander started with WALSH back in 1989, and the first position she mastered was framer. Because of her grit and determination, her talent for mastering her trade and her leadership, she soon moved into the project superintendent ranks. Her experience in the field taught her how each trade interfaced and how best to approach the task at hand. She was an integral part of our teams at New Columbia, the Home Forward Scattered Sites, Standard Insurance, and many other projects. To sum up who Thea is: she is a builder! Something the industry is short of, and a distinction that sets her above the rest. We wish Thea all the best in her retirement and thank her for her 29+ years of hard work and dedication!

WALSH sponsored a jobsite tour for several of these amazing ladies in September at our Estelle project, kicked off by RDF carpenter apprentice Erica Cunningham, a graduate of the program.

National Association of Women In Construction (NAWIC) Block Kids Building Contest!

We had fun volunteering at NAWIC Chapter #54 Portland, Oregon 2018 Block Kids Building Contest! A national building competition for girls and boys using interlocking plastic blocks to promote careers in construction.

There was a great turnout and a lot of fun had by both the kids and volunteers. Thank you to our own Meghan Gross Herteg and Erika O’Callaghan for sharing your passion for construction with our next generation of builders!
