Great article and images in the Daily Journal of Commerce of the work out at Central City Concern‘s innovative Blackburn Building! The two-story health care facility will serve 3,000 people each year with recovery and mental health services, as well as targeted primary care services. The building’s residential portion will offer: 80 transitional, single-room units for low-income individuals; 51 transitional, “respite care” units; 34 permanent studios and 10 “palliative care” units. Blackburn Building is the third of three buildings in the “Housing is Health” initiative, a pioneering commitment from local hospitals and health organizations to supportive, affordable housing.

Thanks to Ankrom Moisan Architects, Inc. and to all of our dedicated craftspeople at RDF Builders and to the WALSH crew of Aaron Elliott, Matt Godt, Duane Stearns, Brian Ames, Steffen Schulz, Linda Woolery and our Quality Director Martin Houston for their diligent efforts!

Transformation of the historic Ainsworth & Dunn building in Seattle continues!

Transformation of the historic Ainsworth & Dunn building in Seattle continues! Dropping by the project the week before the holidays, Wendy Kato took this photo just as the rain let up over downtown. We’ve also included some progress shots from a few months ago – enjoy the clear summer skies! The project for Meriwether Partners, designed by Weinstein AU Architects and Urban Designers, combines preservation of an industrial building and new construction along the waterfront.

ARRAS Apartments (Spring District Phase II) has achieved temporary certificate of occupancy (TCO)

We’re excited to announce ARRAS Apartments (Spring District Phase II) has achieved temporary certificate of occupancy (TCO) on Bldgs. #2, #3, and the garage!

This phase of TCO turns over two buildings, totaling 261 units, and most of the courtyard and site to owner Security Properties. These two buildings also include most of the project amenities: like the Sky Lounge which has a kitchen, media room and outdoor, roof-top deck with breathtaking views of downtown Bellevue; the Hub Wifi Café offering a cozy get-away to have a cup of tea and get some work done on a rainy afternoon; the Fitness Center to get your cycle on; and the Bike Club where tenants will find all the tools for some bike maintenance and TLC. One of the buildings hosts a 2,700 SF retail space, as well. Below this all are 2 levels of parking with 246 parking stalls, retail parking, a dog-wash station, and a large bike storage room. We are tracking to turn-over the last building with the remaining 118 units in the next few weeks.

We are thrilled to be working together with an amazing group of partners and teams including Security Properties Residential, HAL Real Estate, Mithun, David Evans and Associates, Inc., Swenson Say Faget Structural Engineering, and JRS Engineering, to name just a few. Congratulations to all as we begin the new year with the successful completion of this landmark project!
